What Will You Do Differently in 2010?
We are in the middle of collecting responses for our 20101 recruitment survey. Looking at the responses that have come in so far, there are some interesting trends that are emerging. Some I anticipated, but many others that will make for a great discussion when we review the results in a webinar next month.
Some of the enlightening and entertaining information has been coming from the responses to the only opened ended question we included. We asked the simple question “What is the single most important thing you will do differently in 2010 than you did in 2009?”. Some answered with a word or two like “make more money” but most provided some detailed insight.
Here’s a sample of the responses:
Work more strategically around organizational development and sucession planning for current employees.
I plan/need to provide more metrics behind what our team does. In the past, it was never an issue to know these metrics, but now executives want these numbers so we can use them to plan better and stay within budget but be able to increase hires.
Get more focused in finding candidates that match well to our needs.
Be proactive rather than reactive.
Look at creative ways to reduce the time taken to fill senior positions.
Utilize social networks/marketing to entice passive candidates with niche skill sets.
Focusing on social media sites to build brand awareness as well as focusing more on niche sites rather than national job boards.
Be more aggressive in the passive candidate search and to include more diversity organizations in our out reach.
How would you answer this question? Take our brief 2010 recruitment survey now and lets us know. We kept it brief so it’ll just take a couple minutes… and you’ll be entered to win a cool new Amazon Kindle.
We’ll share the analysis of the responses here and discuss them in a webinar in a few weeks.
