JCSI and BestExec staff and family joined forces yesterday to soak each other for a good cause: The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. The hearty staffers and their families got soaked on the lawn outside company headquarters after being nominated by the Grafton Suburban Credit Union. In turn, JCSI nominated three other local businesses, The Grafton Inn, Homequest Mortgage, and Cancun’s Restaurant. The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has been sweeping the nation and raising unprecedented donations for the ALS Association since the program launched less than one month ago. See here for photos of JCSI staff who participated in the challenge--proving a soaking good time was had by all!
Apparently the ice bucket challenge is not just about watery fun; the event is raising millions! As of today, the challenge has raised $53.3 million in donations to the ALS Association according to its website. Compare that to the $2.2 million the association raised during the same time period last year and you get a sense of just how successful this effort has been: inspiring celebrities, CEOs, and folks of all ages and rank to get wet in support of work to assist people with ALS as well as research to cure the disease.
In typical JCSI fashion, in addition to donating to this important cause and having a great time soaking each other in good fun, the team followed the dousing by celebrating together with a company cookout.
